The use of large-scale coal-fired units and biomass coupled power generation has significant advantages in achieving climate goals. Based on this, this paper designs a technical and economic evaluation model to optimize the operational benefits of hybrid power plants by selecting the time node for biomass boiler transformation. In particular, the uncertainty of electricity and carbon prices is taken into account in the model. The study found that fluctuations in carbon taxes and electricity prices have a significant impact on the timing of biomass conversion, but the impact of changes in biomass operating costs on the direction of decision-making is unclear. Therefore, decision makers need to fully consider economic parameters such as biomass power generation efficiency, and deeply combine various uncertainties of the future to give appropriate technology transition strategies.
